Slanted Joy Bracelet Pattern


This beautiful bracelet is made using seed beads, Czech Twin 2-hole beads and Czech Vexolo beads. It will make a wonderful addition to your bracelet collection. And with step-by-step directions you can make one for yourself. 


Bead Store
A = Miyuki 11° SEED bead, 90* beads
C = 2 mm Fire-polished crystals, 6* beads
T = Czech Twin** 2-hole beads, 8* beads
V = Czech Vexolo 2-hole beads, 8* beads
Nymo D, C-Lon Thread or Fireline (4 or 6 pound), #11 or #12 beading needle

*Beads counts are per repeat, repeats for this bracelet are about 1-1/4 inches

**You can use other beads with the similar shape, such as SuperDuo and GBDuo, in place of the twin beads; they will make the center motif bigger.

Start by waxing and stretching your thread. Tie in a “stopper” bead, leaving about a 8-10” tail and begin at step #1.






1. Pick up 2A, 2V (follow bead placement in illustration), 4A, 2T,1A, 2T, 1A, 2T, 1A, 2T,  go with thread forward through the 4th A bead (of the 4A) just added in this step. Continue with working thread around through the center beads again, coming out at the 4th A bead and then continue up through the 3rd A bead as shown.




2. a) Pick up 1A, go with thread left to right through the top hole in the 1st T bead, step #1 or step #17.
b) Pick up 1A, go with thread left to right through the top hole in the 2nd T bead, step #1 or step #17.
c) Pick up 2A, go with thread left to right through 1 A bead in center circle of beads and then up through the 2nd A bead just added in this step.





3. a) Pick up 1A, go with thread left to right through the top hole in the 3rd T bead, step #1 or step #17.
b) Pick up 1A, go with thread left to right through the top hole in the 4th T bead, step #1 or step #17.
c) Pick up 2A, go with thread left to right through 1 A bead in center circle of beads and then up through the 2nd A bead just added in this step.





4. a) Pick up 1A, go with thread left to right through the top hole in the 5th T bead, step #1 or step #17.
b) Pick up 1A, go with thread left to right through the top hole in the 6th T bead, step #1 or step #17.
c) Pick up 2A, go with thread left to right through 1 A bead in center circle of beads and then up through the 2nd A bead just added in this step.






5. a) Pick up 1A, go with thread left to right through the top hole in the 7th T bead, step #1 or step #17.
b) Pick up 1A, go with thread left to right through the top hole in the 8th T bead, and the up through the 2nd A bead (of the 4A), step #1 or step #17.





6. a) Pick up 1C, go with thread up through the 1 A bead, step #2a.
b) Pick up 1A, go with thread up through the right holes in the V beads, step #1 or step #17.
c) Pick up 1A, go with thread forward through the first 2 A beads, step #1 or the 2nd and 3rd A beads, step #15c. Continue with working thread by following the thread path in illustration through your Unit, coming out with thread left to right through the 1 A bead, step #2b.




7. a) Pick up 4A, go with thread left to right through the 1 A bead, step #2b, the top hole of the 2nd T bead, step #1 or step #17, and the 1st A bead, step #2c.
b) Pick up 1C, go with thread left to right through the 1 A bead, step #3a.





8. a) Pick up 1A, 2V (follow bead placement in illustration),3A, go with thread down through the 2V beads as shown.
b) Pick up 1A, go with thread left to right through the 1st A bead, step #2c, the 1 C bead, step #7b, the 1 A bead, step #3a, the top hole of the 3rd T bead, step #1 or step #17, and the 1 A bead, step #3b.
9. a) Pick up 4A, go with thread left to right through the 1 A bead, step #3b, the top hole of the 4th T bead, step #1 or step #17, and the 1st A bead, step #3c.
b) Pick up 1C, go with thread left to right through the 1 A bead, step #4a.
c) Pick up 1A, 2V (follow bead placement in illustration),3A, go with thread down through the 2V beads as shown.
d) Pick up 1A, go with thread left to right through the 1st A bead, step #3c, the 1 C bead added in this step at (b), the 1 A bead, step #4a, the top hole of the 5th T bead, step #1 or step #17, and the 1 A bead, step #4b.

10. a) Pick up 4A, go with thread right to left through the 1 A bead, step #4b, the top hole of the 6th T bead, step #1 or step #17, and the 1st A bead, step #4c.
b) Pick up 1C, go with thread right to left through the 1 A bead, step #5a.

11. Pick up 1A, 2V (follow bead placement in illustration),3A, go with thread down through the 2V beads as shown.


12. a) Pick up 1A, go with thread right to left through the 1st A bead, step #4c, the 1 C bead added in this step #10b, the 1 A bead, step #5a, the top hole of the 7th T bead, step #1 or step #17, and the 1 A bead, step #5b.
b) Pick up 4A, go with thread forward through the 1 A bead, step #5b, and up through the 1st and 2nd A beads just added in this step.


13. a) Pick up 1A, go with thread down (left to right) through the 3rd A bead, step #12b.
b) Pick up 2A, go with thread up through the right side holes of the 2 V beads, right to left through the 3 A beads and down through the left side hole of the 2 V beads, step #11.
c) Pick up 2A, go with thread up (left to right) through the 2nd A bead, step #10a.
14. a) Pick up 1A, go with thread forward (left to right) through the 3rd A bead, step #10a.
b) Pick up 2A, go with thread up through the right side holes of the 2 V beads, and forward through the 3 A beads, step #9c.
c) Pick up 5A, 1C, 1A, go with thread forward through the 2nd and 3rd A beads, and down through the left side hole of the 2 V beads, step #9c.
d) Pick up 2A, go with thread up (left to right) through the 2nd A bead, step #9a.

15. a) Pick up 1A, go with thread down (right to left) through the 3rd A bead, step #9a.
b) Pick up 2A, go with thread up through the right side holes of the 2 V beads, and forward through the 1st and 2nd A beads, step #8a.
c) Pick up 1A, 1C, 5A, go with thread forward through the 3 A beads, and down through the left side hole of the 2 V beads, step #8a.
d) Pick up 2A, go with thread up (right to left) through the 2nd A bead, step #7a.
e) Pick up 1A, go with thread down (right to left) through the 3rd A bead, step #7a.
f) Pick up 2A, go with thread up through the right side holes of the 2 V beads, right to left through the 3 A beads (as shown) and down through the left side hole of the 2 V beads, and the 1st 1 A bead (of the 4A), step #1 or step #17.
  

16. Pick up 2A, go with thread forward through the 2nd, 3rd and 4th A beads, step #12b, and the 1 A bead, step #5b. Continue with working thread by following the thread path in the illustration, through the Unit, coming out with thread forward through the 1 A, 1 C and 3 A beads added in step #15c.
First Unit complete.


17. Pick up 2V (follow bead placement in illustration), 4A, 2T,1A, 2T, 1A, 2T, 1A, 2T, go with thread forward through the 4th A bead (of the 4A) just added in this step. Continue with working thread around through the center beads again, coming out at the 4th A bead and then continue up through the 3rd A bead as shown.

18. Start next Unit by following steps #2 through step #10b.


19. a) Pick up 1A, 2V (follow bead placement in illustration), go with thread down through the 3rd and 4th A beads, step #14c.
b) Pick up 1A, go with thread down (left to right) through the 2V beads as shown.

20. Finish Unit by following steps #12 through step #16.


21. Continue by repeating steps #17 through #20 until the bracelet is the length that you would like.
Add clasps of your choice on both ends Continue with thread around through the clasp beads several times for strength. Weave the working thread into the bracelet and end.
