Nymo D, C-Lon Thread or Fireline (4 or 6 pound), #11 or #12
beading needle
Start by waxing and stretching your thread. Tie in a “stopper” bead, leaving about a 8-10” tail and begin at step #1.
1. a) Pick up 7A, go with thread forward through the 1st through 5th A beads just added.
b) Pick up 3A, go with thread down through the 5th A bead added at (a) and forward through the 1st and 2nd A beads just added.
2. Pick up 19A, make a circle and go with thread forward through the 8th A bead, pull up snug and go with thread around through the circle of 12 beads again.
3. a) Pick up 4A, skip over 1 bead in circle of 12 and go with thread forward through the next bead.
b) Repeat (a) around circle of 12, 4 more times.
c) Pick up 2A, go with thread forward (down) through the 6th and 7th A beads added at step #2, left to right through 1 A bead in circle of 12, and forward through the 1st and 2nd A bead added in this step at the first repeat of (a).
4. Pick up 9A*, go with thread forward through the 6th A bead (first time) or 8A* (every time after), go with thread forward through the 5th A bead.
5. Pick up 5A, go with thread around the thread between the 2nd and 3rd A beads, step #3a and up through the 5th A bead just added.
6. a) Pick up 8A, go with thread forward through the 5th A bead just added.
b) Pick up 5A, go with thread around the thread between the 2nd and 3rd A beads, step #3a and up through the 5th A bead just added.
c) Repeat (a, b) around 2 more times.
7. a) Pick up 4A, go with thread up through the 2nd A bead, step #1b, forward through the 1st through 5th A beads, step #2, around the thread between the 2nd and 3rd A beads, step #3a and up through the 5th A bead again.
b) Pick up 8A, go with thread forward through the 5th A bead just added.
c) Pick up 4A, go with thread down through the 1st A bead, step #4, around the thread between the 2nd and 3rd A beads, step #3a, forward through the 1st through 6th A bead, step #4 and forward through the 1st A bead, step #5.
8. a) Pick up 1C, go with thread right to left through the 3 A beads at the center bottom of snowflake branch, up through the C bead just added and then left to right and forward through the center top beads in branch, as shown, coming out with thread up through the 1st A bead, step #3a. Please refer to the illustration for the placement of the crystals in the snowflakes.
b) Repeat (a) around in the same manner 5 more times.
c) Continue with working thread through necklace point coming out with thread forward through the 1st through 8th A beads, step #4.
9. a) Pick up 6A, go with thread up through the 7th A bead, step #4.
b) Pick up 3A, go with thread down through the 4th A bead, added at (a) and forward through the 1st and 2nd A beads just added in this step.
10. Continue necklace by repeating steps #2 through #9b until you reach the length that you want your necklace to be
11. To add clasp, pick up 5A, clasp, 5A, make a circle and go with thread up through the 2nd A bead, step #9. Go with thread around the clasp beads several times then weave in and end the thread. After removing the stopper bead, repeat the clasp directions in the same manner on the other end.
